Found on some guy’s Picasa photo album. The caption says it was at Game 6 of the 1981 World Series.
We’re talkin’ fuckin’ Lee
Jon Heyman has the Yankee news. TR Sullivan of MLB.com has the Ranger news. It’s all over, folks. Sounds like Cliff Lee is going to the Phillies. -BK

The Ultimate What-If: Derek on All 30 Teams.
I’ve been sitting on this one for a few days, but check it out. The guys at The Beckett Blog, the card collector’s magazine’s website, has put together a post featuring Derek Jeter in every single Major League Baseball team’s uniform. The one featuring the captain as a member of the Angels is my favorite for the shock value, but Jeter as a Met (with his head atop David Wright’s body) and Jeter as a Ray are terrifying too.
— Tino Martinez, on media coverage of the ongoing negotiations between the Yankees and Derek. (NY Post)
Check out this footage from the mid-1970s renovation of old Yankee Stadium. Great stuff.
No one needs to get out a tin cup and help the Yankees. Money — earning it and spending it — is their specialty. If they see the value of giving Jeter a parting-gift contract that keeps the goodwill between historic franchise and iconic player, then so be it.
But it is going to stop there, right?
Because there is a faction of media and fans who seem more determined to make sure Jeter is taken care of than, you know, actually making sure the Yankees remain elite contenders.
"Once upon a time, it cost $1 to park at Yankee Stadium. According to the Sports Illustrated Vault, the source of this photo, that year was 1966. Had the rate of parking risen only with inflation, it would now cost just $6.75 to park near Yankee Stadium. Yet, as we reported in late October, it could cost anywhere from $35 to $55 to park at the stadium in 2011. My advice? Take the train.
This is the Excalibur, billed as the highest climbing wall in the world, located in the Netherlands. Yikes.
